and we have to thoroughly recommend the Neilson resort at Porto Heli, in South Greece.

The staff are fantastic, the kit is brilliant and the hotel is quite simply the finest we have stayed in. We did have some great company for the week in the other guests, after all many of us were there with a common interest, sailing!

Flying out from Heathrow on Saturday morning in a nippy 4°C, we landed in Athens which was a rather more kind 25°C. After a twisty coach trip in the dark over the mountains, Sunday dawned with a tad too much wind (Force 6). They wouldn't let any boats out on the morning, and in the afternoon we got to prove our mettle in reefed Picos in 3 ft chop, which was interesting.

The rest of the week saw lighter conditions (until Friday), and we not only had a fantastic holiday, but also managed to squeeze in a windsurfing taster, some rest and relaxation time by the pool, and Start Racing and Sailing with Spinnakers qualifications.

The kit they have out there is brilliant - from a whole fleet of Picos (about 27), to Lasers (14), RS200s, RS400s, an RS500, Laser Stratos, RS Feva and Dart 16s, and that's just what we sailed in the week! They also have Laser 2000s, Laser 4000s, a couple of 29ers and a twin trapeze RS800 all of which we'll have to go back to sail because we couldn't fit it all in in a week.

So, thanks to Nielson, over the winter you can expect to see Symmetrical and Asymmetrical spinnaker articles, Start Racing articles and Trapeze and other high performance sailing articles appearing on here!

Stay tuned, we'll add some photos later this week.
