Hoisting an Asymmetric Spinnaker

Asymmetric spinnakers are easy to hoist, and require little messing around with poles - it's usually just a one or two line job to hoist!

Rigging an Asymmetric Spinnaker

Asymmetric spinnakers are easier in all aspects than symmetric spinnakers, including when rigging, due to the lack of a spinnaker pole.

Introduction to Asymmetric Spinnakers

Asymmetric spinnakers are easier to handle than their older counterpart, but they do require a different approach to sailing them.

Racing - Starting Signals

Wouldn't things be so simple if we all just lined up on the start line, someone blew a whistle, and we started? It would be fantastic! However, due to the way boats work, this can never happen. It's easy enough to get people lined up on a running track and send them on one signal, but it doesn't work so well with boats, water, and wind.

- Topper Topaz Duo - I think that handicap's a bit steep! Puts it level with the Sport 16, it's more usually quoted around 1225 - the Tres seems to be 1175. Cheers, John - John Rolt

- Laser Stratos - Drojan, I think you're right on some of that - where we sailed it it was more setup for cruising (it didn't have the trapeze kit), and it was the first time we sailed it. We were up against people in mostly Lasers, RS 200s and RS400s, who were pretty familiar with their boats, on a small course which didn't help. - Richard

- Laser Stratos - You might have had a poorly set-up boat, or perhaps shot sails. This boat is a superb boat for longer sails and handicap racing. Even has a trapeze kit which gives an added dimension to the boat. - Drojan
